WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The Wood County man accused of reckless homicide in the death of Sara Wilkinson has pleaded no contest.
Paul Hardwick entered the plea on Wednesday. In exchange, several charges were dismissed but read into the record, including felony possession of cocaine and THC.
The 55-year-old was accused of providing Wilkinson with the drugs that she took just before she died in April of 2025. Police were called to her home to find her unresponsive, and life-saving measures were not successful.
The deal also covers a second open case against Hardwick for vehicle theft. That count was also dismissed but read in, meaning it will be considered at sentencing.
A pair of misdemeanor drug charges and one count of theft of movable property were dismissed outright as well. Judge Timothy Gebert then ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for October 1st.
Hardwick faces up to 60 years in the state prison system.
