MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) – The Milwaukee Brewers are reportedly still looking to add pitching depth before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
According to New York Post MLB insider Joel Sherman, the Brewers and Mets have discussed a trade involving starting pitcher Clay Holmes, who has quickly become one of the top pitching names still available following the Dodgers acquiring Tarik Skubal from the Tigers and the Blue Jays acquiring Jose Sorino from the Angels.
Holmes, 33, is nearing the end of his 60-day IL stint due to a fibula injury, having made a rehab start with High-A Brooklyn on Saturday and allowing four runs in 5.1 innings thrown.
Holmes is 4-4 in the majors this season with a 2.39 ERA.
Milwaukee has been calling practically every team in the last few days, looking for a deal that suits their budget, while Kyle Harrison is expected to return from the IL later this week and DL Hall rejoined the team over the weekend.
