PITTSBURGH, PA (WSAU) – The Packers offense managed just three field goals in a 28-9 pre-season loss to the Steelers.
Rookie placekicker Trey Smack kicked field goals from 58, 38, and 37 yards. “Really, really strong first performance,” coach Matt Lafleur said. “Now he’s got to stack it.”
Jordan Love started the game at quarterback and completed 3 of 5 passes for 18 yards on the opening drive. Aaron Rodgers did not play for Pittsburgh.
The Packers starting defense was not scored on. The Steelers got the first of their four touchdowns against the Packers reserves late in the first half.
Steelers quarterback Drew Aller threw for two touchdowns and ran for a third.
The Packers offense was limited to 160 yards.
