CONLEY COMMENTARY (WSAU) – Fox News Digital profiled two midwestern cities with the same problem: large numbers of unassimilated immigrants. The cities are Warren, Michigan and St. Cloud, Minnesota.
In Warren, the trouble started six years ago when a Lutheran church closed its doors. The Masjid Al-Fath Islamic Center bought the building. Warren is only 20-miles away from Dearborn, the largest Islamic city in the United States. Residents who wanted to get out of the city and live in nicer houses moved to Warren.
Resident Justin Tye says his hometown is being depopulated; white families are moving out, muslims are moving in. He noted that the field behind the old Lutheran church used to be a neighborhood playground. Not any more. Muslims who attend the mosque don’t want their kids playing with the “native” children. Now there are six other mosques built within 10 miles of Tye’s home.
He was doxxed by his new muslin neighbors after speaking to Fox News.
In St. Cloud, Minnesota half the downtown businesses are empty, and there are large Somali enclaves that have moved in. Herbergers, the downtown department store, has closed down. St. Cloud State, with declining enrollment, no longer plays football – no more Saturday tailgate parties that used to pack the streets. And there is fraud. Many of the Somali immigrants have their children getting services for autism or get government-funded daycare. One Somali woman bragged that both she and her husband have applied for – and received – federal housing assistance. They now have two government funded apartments, one that they live in and one that the sublet for cash. These new arrivals have no interest in assimilating; many do not speak English.
Ellis Island had been welcoming newcomers to the United States for three decades when our nation decided on an immigration pause. 17-percent of our nation was born overseas. The Immigration Act of 1924 set strict quotas on who could enter the country. It was designed to allow our nation to assimilate those who were already hear, and to prioritize new arrivals on their abilities to become Americanized – things like a common religion and language.
Today 15-percent of all Americans, about 50-million, were born outside of our country. Is another immigration pause in order?
