Harold John Seitz, age 86 of Stratford, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020, at his home. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Burial will take place at Hillside Cemetery in Marshfield.
Harold was born April 4, 1934, the son of Leo Seitz and Ella (Helms) Seitz. He graduated from Marshfield High School in 1952. On May 9, 1959, Harold was united in marriage to Fern Marlene Gebelein at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Day. Fern passed away May 27, 1985. Harold married Joyce Ann Roggenbauer on December 11, 1987.
In Harold’s spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and had a special passion doing woodworking. He was very creative and handy. Harold spent a great deal of time at his cabin in Tomahawk. He especially enjoyed driving around checking out the scenery. Those that knew Harold the best will miss his stories, laughter and knowledge he had to share along with his infamous line, “oh, the hell!” Harold loved hosting a yearly cabin party for his many friends and family.
Harold worked at Biron Paper Mill after High School. After marriage, Harold and Fern purchased the Seitz Family Farm in the town of Day where they farmed until Harold’s retirement. Harold worked numerous different jobs for many years. He also worked at Stratford Homes. He was also a silo salesman for many years starting with Rochester Silo sales and then Midwest Silo sales, he took so much pride in doing so and made so many friendships with his colleagues and farmers over the years, he covered central and Northern Wisconsin and the Upper part of Michigan until the age of 80+.
Harold is lovingly survived by his wife, Joyce; and 5 children: Lori Seitz (Jay); Karla (Mark) Miller; Jodi (John) Rotar; Kim (late Burton) Meyer; Kendra (Kevin) Schmidtke; and his grandchildren: Katlyn, Logan, Dustin, Jesse, Amy, Heather, Sean, Shane, Luke, Troy, Paul, Karissa and Kody. He is also survived by 4 step-children: Jim Cordes; Darrel (Sharon) Cordes; Kathy (Jeff) Behrens; Todd (Barb) Cordes; and his step-grandchildren: Quentin, Jesse, Dane, Trevor, Tanya, Josh, Linda. Harold is also survived by many great-grandchildren.
Harold is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Fern; and infant son; and sibilings: Ray, Marvin, Kenneth, Donald, Verna and Gladys and Elaine.
Those wishing to express their sympathy are encouraged to do so by sending Joyce a card. Harold’s wishes were to have a Celebration of Life which will be announced at a later date.
