BOULDER, CO (WSAU) — Milwaukee has been named the worst city in the US for dogs.
The pet food company Honest Paws recently announced its rankings for the best and worst dog-friendly cities in the country.
Milwaukee was named the worst due to a lack of public dog parks and a low number of vet clinics for more than 595,000 residents. The city was also knocked for having restrictions on Pitbulls and Rottweilers while Wisconsin state law has no restrictions on those breeds.
Other not-so-friendly dog cities on the list include Louisville, KY, and Detroit.
Tampa and Orlando, FL topped the list for best cities for dogs. Minneapolis, Las Vegas, and Cincinnati also cracked the top 20.
The survey also named Orlando, FL as the best city for access to veterinarian care and Hartford, CT as the city with the most dog parks. Atlanta had the best score for pet-friendly rental properties.
(Editors note: The original version of this story incorrectly stated that Milwaukee had just three vet clinics. Honest Paws corrected its press release one day later, but did not give a specific number)
