RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The former City Administrator in Rhinelander may have all charges against him dismissed as part of an agreement with prosecutors for charges of misconduct in office.
Daniel Guild had two of three charges against him dropped in December, and after a court appearance on Friday he may be on track to have the final charge dismissed as well.
WAOW TV reports that the Guild and Oneida County have a Deferred Prosecution Agreement which calls for the last count of misconduct in office to be dropped if he commits no additional crimes that result in felony charges between now and May.
Earlier charges that were dismissed included two counts of tampering with public records. Court records indicate the prosecution’s case lacked merit.
All charges stem from allegations that Guild tampered with the file of a former Rhinelander city employee. The investigation led to a document raid at City Hall in November of 2019. Guild was fired a few months later.
The case returns to court for a review hearing on May 6th.
