RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) — A Three Lakes man has been arrested by Oneida County Sheriff’s officials on suspicion of child pornography charges.
Officers, acting on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, searched the home of 31-year-old Evan Sheedy. While they did not find any child porn, they did find a video of a patient at Ascension- St. Mary’s hospital that was recorded without their consent.
Sheedy will be in an Oneida County courtroom on Wednesday to face charges of capturing a representation of nudity without the consent of the person. No other charges are being filed at this time, and officers emphasize that they have not found any other videos, though the investigation continues.
Officers have identified and notified the adult patient that was captured in the video.
Sheedy is an employee of the hospital and has been suspended from his duties indefinitely.
Ascension released the following statement Wednesday morning: “Leadership at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital is aware of the arrest of an associate. Matters of patient safety and security are our highest priority and we have launched an internal investigation and are fully cooperating with authorities. Until the investigation is complete, the associate is suspended from all work duties.”
