STEVENS POINT, Wi (WSAU) — The UWSP men’s hockey team used special teams to beat UW-Stout 6-3 on Friday night at KB Willet Arena. The Pointers scored two power play goals and two shothanded goals in the win.
Zach Zech scored twice for UWSP. The other goals went to Tristan Conrad, Colin Raver, Jordan Fader and David Hill.
Ryan Wagner had 24 saves.
The Pointers, now 4-3, will head to Ashland on Wednesday for a matchup with Northland College.
The UWSP women’s basketball team dropped 76-68 game with UW-River Falls Friday night at Quandt Fieldhouse.
Bailee Collins had a double-double with 18 points and a career high 15 rebounds. Josie Nies had 13 and Kellan Schmidt added 10.
The Pointers, now 3-5, will head to La Crosse on Monday for the start of the WIAC Tournament
The UWSP men’s basketball team ended its regular season with a 77-72 loss Friday night at River Falls .
Garrett Nelson led the Pointers with 19 points. Philip Flory had 17, Peter Timmerman 16 and Cliff McCray 12.
The Pointers, now 2-6, will travel to La Crosse on Monday for a WIAC Tournament quarterfinal game.
The UWSP softball team is off to its best start since 2012. They are 4-0 after a pair of victories on Friday in Peoria Illinois.
They beat Wisconsin Lutheran 2-1 and Concordia of Chicago 9-1.
Sammy Buerger had six rbi’s on the day including a grand slam. Sara Traxel had three hits and scored three times.
Makenna Tkach won the opener striking out 6 in 5 2/3 innings.
The Pointers will be back in Peoria on Thursday for games vs St. Scholastica and Dubuque.
