WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Wood County man is facing multiple felony charges for alleged child abuse.
Brian Scapardine, 53, of Pittsville was in court Thursday afternoon for an initial appearance. Scapardine is facing charges of causing mental harm to a child, 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety with the use of a dangerous weapon, child abuse to intentionally cause harm, and repeated sexual assault of the same child in a separate case. The charges stem from multiple incidents that occurred in 2019 and 2020.
Some of those incidents allegedly include a child reporting that Scapardine allegedly picked them and their siblings up by the throat and made threats, allegedly picked a child up by the head off the ground, allegedly pointing a gun at a child, and threatening to shoot their horse, among others.
Scapardine is facing up to 46 years in jail if found guilty of the felony charges for alleged child mental trauma and abuse. Scapardine has been released on a $10,000 signature bond and will return to court on March 15th for a preliminary hearing and arraignment.
