WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Governor Tony Evers and local health officials have announced that the Marathon County COVID-19 community vaccination site will open on April 6th at Northcentral Technical College.
The site will have the ability to administer up to 400 doses of vaccine daily, but that number could increase to as much as 1,000 based on available supply.
“Through the dedication of our vaccine team, local public health, and other partners, the first three community clinics have been successful, and Wisconsin continues to be a national leader in using available supply. We are excited to build upon these partnerships and be able to open this vaccination clinic in Wausau,” said Gov. Evers. “These vaccination clinics continue to serve Wisconsin by giving folks more options to get vaccinated. And in doing so, bring us all one step closer to getting back to our Wisconsin way of life.”
Hours of operation will be 11 AM to 7 PM Tuesday through Saturday at the NTC Center for Business and Industry Building. Those wanting to get vaccinated will need to make an appointment through the state’s vaccine registry.
The site will be open to any Wisconsin resident, not just those who live in Marathon County. But individuals must be eligible for vaccination before making an appointment.
The Wausau site will be the fourth DHS community-based vaccination site. Others include Racine, La Crosse, and Rock Counties. A shared site between Barron and Douglas Counties is also scheduled to come online soon.
Green Bay’s Lambeau Field has also served as a community vaccination site as part of an NFL league-wide effort to use all stadiums as community vaccination sites.
