MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Marquette has hired Shaka Smart as their next men’s basketball coach.
Smart, a Wisconsin native was let go from the University of Texas after they were ousted from the NCAA Tournament last week.
The 44 year old was at Texas for six years after a successful run at Virginia Commonweath where his teams made five straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
He replaces Steve Wojciechowski who was let go last week after seven seasons.
