WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Those who commute through Downtown Wausau on a regular basis should be prepared for some delays beginning April 5th.
That’s when the Wisconsin DOT will begin work on the Highway 52 (Scott Street) bridge. They’ll be putting down a thin concrete overlay along with new bridge expansion joints.
Crews will begin preparing the site for the project on Wednesday, including the installation of a temporary pedestrian crosswalk at Washington Street.
Drivers can expect lane shifts and closures for the duration of the project, which is expected to last until June depending on the weather.
Upon completion of that project crews will turn their attention to the railroad bridge along Business 51 between Floral Avenue and Single Avenue. That project is expected to last from June through September.
Once again vehicle access will continue through the duration of the project, but drivers can expect lane closures and shifts.
Neither project will involve detours.
