WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) The Hmong Wausau Festival, canceled last year because of COVID, will return this summer.
The Hmong American Center announced on Facebook that they will host the Hmong Wausau Festival on July 31st and August 1st at Eastbay Sports Complex.
Earlier this year, the Hmong American Center sent out a survey to gauge interest. 80-percent of respondents favored the event occurring.
Organizers say the favorable survey, along with a statement from the Assistant Deputy Director of the Wisconsin Department of Health Services indicating the state may reach herd immunity by July helped the Board feel that the event can occur safely. The Hmong American Center will work with local health departments to ensure disinfecting and other protocols.
