MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — A 10th inning RBI double by Colin Moran broke a 5-5 tie and proved to be the game-winning hit for the Pittsburg Pirates on Sunday over the Milwaukee Brewers.
Daniel Vogelbach led the way for the Brewers at the plate going 2-5 with both hits being home runs. That includes a solo shot in the first to open the scoring, then a two-run tater in the bottom of the 7th which tied the game at 5.
Jackie Bradley Jr and Avisail Garcia each finished the day 2-5 at the plate as well.
Those three combined for six of Milwaukee’s seven hits on the day. The other hit came from Travis Shaw, who finished 1-5 with an RBI.
Freddy Peralta took a no-decision after pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs on three hits. Brad Boxberger also allowed two earned runs in the 7th on a home run by Bryan Reynolds.
J.P. Feyereisen took the loss by pitching the 10th inning and allowing Moran’s double. He also recorded one strikeout. That broke an 11 inning scoreless streak for Brewers’ relievers.
Since the runner that scored was placed at second base to start the 10th inning, the run is considered unearned.
Richard Rodriguez earned the win for Pittsburgh.
Milwaukee falls to 8-7 on the season including 2-1 in extra innings games. They’ll load up the jet and head west tonight to begin a series against San Diego Monday evening. First pitch is set for just after 9 PM Central, pregame coverage will begin at 8:35 on WSAU.
