RHINELANDER, WI (WSAU) –A proclamation has declared a new statewide day of recognition.
Governor Tony Evers announced the 1st official day in a video message on Friday, “Today we’re excited to celebrate the first Hodag Heratige Festival and the first ever official Hodag Day in Wisconsin,”.
He says the Hodag is a special figure for the entire state. “No matter where you’re from, the Hodag is a key part of our culture, identity, and heritage,”. A Hodag Heritage Ceremony was held on Friday at Pioneer Park in Rhinelander. The ceremony included a presentation of the proclamation and activities like a parked parade.
