In a mostly light-hearted interview, Rodgers did shed some light on what has caused the reported rift between himself and the Packers.
“I think sometimes people forget what really makes an organization. History is important, legacy, so many people who’ve come before you. But the people, that’s the most important thing. The people make an organization. The people make a business, and sometimes that gets forgotten,” Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said.
Rodgers went on to say, “Culture is built brick by brick., the foundation of it by the people. I’ve been fortunate to play with a number of amazing, amazing people and got to work with some amazing people as well.”
As for how the situation has gotten to this point, Rodgers says it doesn’t stem from the drafting of Jordan Love last year.
“I love Jordan. He’s a great kid. Lot of fun to work together. I love the coaching staff. Love my teammates. Love the fan base in Green Bay. It’s incredible. Incredible 16 years.”
“It’s just kind of about a philosophy. And maybe forgetting that it is about the people that make the thing go. It’s about character. It’s about culture. It’s about doing things the right way. Lot of this was put in motion last year and the wrench was kind of thrown into it when I won MVP and played the way I played last year. This is kind of the spill out of all that.”
Voluntary Organized Team Activities for the Green Bay Packers, sessions that Rodgers has often attended in the past, began on Monday without number 12.
