WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The former Marshfield Police Chief accused of making unwanted sexual advances towards another officer will go to trial in December for charges of misconduct in office and 4th-degree sexual assault.
Rick Gramza was in court on Wednesday where Portage County Judge Thomas Eagon, who has been called in to oversee the case, scheduled a three-day jury trial to run between December 15th and 17th.
According to the alleged victim, who has not been identified, the unwanted sexual advances dated back to before Gramza’s time as Chief of Police for the city. She said she did bring them up to HR, but her complaints never went further than that.
She was also afraid for her job security after Gramza was promoted to Chief. Gramza has acknowledged the contact but has maintained that it was consensual.

A final pretrial conference is scheduled for November 15th.
Court records from Wednesday also show Gramza recently moved from Marshfield to East Troy. He remains free on a $10,000 signature bond that was signed back in December of 2020.
Gramza was placed on paid leave from the city for several months after the allegations came to light in the fall of 2020. He finally reached a separation agreement with the city in early March.
The city has yet to hire a new full-time Police Chief.
