KESHENA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Menominee Casino Resort was a victim of an “external computer attack” but has not been presented with a ransomware demand, tribal Chairman Gunnar Peters said Monday.
The casino-resort closed on Friday, and is likely to remain closed until at least Thursday this week, Peters told FOX 11.
Local authorities and the FBI are involved in the investigation.
At this time, the tribe believes the gaming operations, not other tribal offices or business, were the target. To this point, the tribe does not believe any employer or customer data was compromised or obtained by the attackers, Peters said.
The casino-resort had a job fair planned for Friday, but that has been canceled as staff focuses on the computer issues.
