WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A man accused of shooting a woman at a Wausau apartment complex last March has his competency hearing set.
Umberto Lo will undergo a hearing on September 28.
He is accused of fatally shooting 30-year-old Mai Rue Vang, and authorities have said he admitted to the killing. A police report said Lo sent a picture of the shooting to the victim’s brother. The report also said Lo told officers that “he deserved everything that was coming to him.”
He had a no contact order with the victim at the time of the crime. He has several open court cases pending against him.
Lo remains in Marathon County Jail on a $1 million cash bond.
