Bob and Kay Zwald of Bomaz Inc in Hammond, WI were named the National Dairy Shrine’s Distinguished Dairy Cattle Breeders of 2021. The couple will be recognized during a ceremony at this year’s World Dairy Expo at the end of September. The award is given to a dairy breeder based on dairy herd genetic management and business principles.
Bob and his brother Greg took over the dairy from their parents in the 70s and grew from a herd of 25 to now milking 1,500 cows. Bob and Kay took over the farm about a decade ago and currently farm with two of their five children and their spouses. With the Distinguished Dairy Cattle Breeders award, the couple’s picture will be displayed in the National Dairy Shrine’s Hall of Fame and Museum in Fort Atkinson.
