MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — It didn’t take long for the Milwaukee Bucks to bring back fan-favorite Bobby Portis.
On the first day of the free agency period Portis announced on his Twitter page that he would be back with the team that he helped win a championship this past season.
Portis, who probably could have fielded a higher offer from another team decided to sign a two year deal with the Bucks worth $9 million with a player option for the second year.
Portis averaged 11.4 points and 5.2 rebounds in 66 games and shot a career best 47.1% on three pointers. He scored 22 points in the title-clinching game. He said “my journey has brought me to Milwaukee and I wouldn’t trade it for the world”.
Meanwhile, another player who played a big role in the championship run has moved on. P.J.Tucker has reportedly signed a two year, $15 million dollar deal with the Miami Heat.
It appeared from a social media post that Tucker expected to return to the Bucks as they could have paid him more money and gone over the salary cap. The Bucks chose to let Tucker walk.
Tucker, was a defensive specialist who provided little offense. He did prove very valuable in the playoffs after coming to the Bucks late in the regular season.
