MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Battling a depleted bullpen and playing the team with the best record in baseball, the Milwaukee Brewers dropped two of three over the weekend including a 5-4 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Sunday at American Family Field.
The Brewers had leads in both the fifth and sixth innings on Sunday but couldn’t hold them. Brandon Belt had a two run homer in the 7th inning off Daniel Norris. Belt had four homers in the three game series. The Giants broke a 4-4 tie in the 8th with a Brandon Crawford double and Tommy La Stella single. Darren Ruf had a home run in the first inning for the Giants.
Omar Narvaez hit his 10th homer of the season, a two-run shot in the 4th inning. Brett Anderson pitched well allowing only one run through 5 innings but had to leave the game after batting in the 5th and suffering leg cramps.
Milwaukee still holds a five game lead on the Reds and will travel to Chicago for a four game series against the Cubs starting tonight. Freddy Peralta will get the start and you can hear the game on WSAU…pre game show at 6:30
