MADISON, WI (WSAU) — Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul has filed a lawsuit to remove Wausau dentist Frederick Prehn from the state’s Natural Resources Board.
Dr. Prehn, whose term expired May 1st, has remained on the board and continues to cast votes and participate in discussions on wildlife matters.
“Dr. Prehn’s term is over. His attempt to remain on the Natural Resources Board indefinitely, in defiance of the will of the voters, is fundamentally undemocratic,” said Kaul. “We’re asking for a clear ruling that Dr. Prehn is no longer a member of the Natural Resources Board.”

Governor Tony Evers appointed a replacement for Prehn however the state legislature has yet to confirm that appointment. Prehn has previously said that it’s not uncommon for members of the NRB to remain on the board until their replacement is confirmed.
