WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Marathon County Administrator Lance Leonhard took time during Thursday’s County Board Informational meeting to introduce supervisors to the nominee for the county’s next Health Officer.
Laura Scudiere beat out at least ten other applicants from across the nation to win nominations for the position. She currently serves as the Director of Community Health Improvement within the county’s Health Department.
Leonhard says while Scudiere is a local hire, they did publish the job in both state and national publications and job boards. Eleven interviews were conducted, with all candidates also vetted by the state Department of Health Services to make sure they met qualifications that would allow the Health Department to keep its Level Three status.
Scudiere has also served in leadership positions with Bridge Community Health Clinic and North Central Health Care. If approved by a vote of Supervisors next Tuesday, she would replace Joan Theurer who will be retiring in early September.
