MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Christian Yelich recorded three hits, three runs scored, and six RBI to lead the Brewers to a 9-6 win over Washington on Saturday.
Yelich’s body of work included a solo home run in the 1st to get the Crew on the board then an RBI base hit in the 5th. He capped the day off with a grand slam in the 8th to provide the game-winning runs.
Kolton Wong and Omar Narvaez each added two hits in the win. Narvaez also picked up an RBI on a sac fly that was put away by Nationals 1B Ryan Zimmerman in foul territory, which allowed Wong to score from 3rd base on a play that was reviewed by the replay command center and upheld.
Eric Lauer got the start for the Brewers but did not factor in the decision after allowing 3 runs in 4.1 innings. Devin Williams got the win after he was called on to pitch the 8th inning, recording two strikeouts. Josh Hader worked around one hit in the 9th to pick up the save.
The same two teams will wrap up their three-game series this afternoon. Coverage begins at 12:35 on WSAU.
