MILWAUKEE, Wi (WSAU) — After losing to the Philadelphia Phillies five times this season, the Milwaukee Brewers finally broke through with an 10-0 victory on Tuesday night.
The Brewers scored three times in the 3rd inning and then tacked on seven more runs over the final three innings of the game.
Eric Lauer pitched seven innings giving up just four hits and one walk while striking out five. Hunter Strickland and Miguel Sanchez finished up.
The top of the lineup did most of the damage in this one. Avi Garcia hit his 25th home run for Milwaukee with two RBIs. Eduardo Escobar had three RBIs. Christian Yelich went 3-5 with a pair of RBIs and Kolten Wong drove in two as well. Lauer even got into the act with a hit, a runs scored and an RBI.
Milwaukee’s magic number to clinch the division title fell to 12. They face the Phillies again tonight… pre game show at 6:05 on WSAU.
