MADISON, WI (WSAU) — After struggling to find the end zone against Penn State last week, the Wisconsin football team racked up over 350 rushing yards in a 34-7 win over Eastern Michigan in non-conference action.
Chez Mellusi led the way with 146 yards and one TD. Issac Guerendo added 92 yards and a score and Jalen Berger recorded 62 yards and one TD.
One week after throwing two costly interceptions in that loss to the Nittany Lions, Badger QB Graham Mertz took care of the football with 14 completions for 141 yards and no picks. The Badgers also did not record a touchdown through the air.
Fond du Lac native Braelon Allen closed out the scoring with a one-yard touchdown plunge in the 4th.
Eastern Michigan managed just three first downs in the game. Donte Burton led the Badger defense with two tackles and an interception.
Wisconsin will enjoy a bye week next Saturday before traveling to Chicago to take on Notre Dame at Soldier Field. Kickoff is set for 11 AM, pregame coverage will begin at 9 on WSAU.
The Notre Dame-Wisconsin series was originally set to kick off last season at Lambeau Field but that was canceled due to COVID-19. The two sides have rescheduled that affair for the 2026 season.
Despite the game being played in Chicago, the Badgers are considered the home team for the game. Notre Dame will be the home team for the 2026 affair in Green Bay. The game also satisfies the Big Ten’s scheduling requirements that at least one of a school’s three non-conference games be played against another school from the so-called “power 5” leagues or Notre Dame.
