MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The #4 ranked Wisconsin volleyball team beat Illinois on Saturday night 25-27, 25-20,25-9 & 25-15.
The Illini outblocked the Badgers 7-0 to win the first set. The Badger defense tightened up after that. Dana Rettke had 15 kills and Grace Loberg had 13. Loberg went over 1000 kills in her career.
Rettke had eight blocks and Lauren Barnes had 13 digs.
The Badgers, now 13-1, 5-1 in Big Ten, will head to Michigan this weekend. Matches with Michigan State on Friday and Michigan on Saturday.
The #1 ranked Wisconsin womens hockey team completed a weekend sweep with a 6-1 win over St. Cloud State on Sunday at LaBahn Arena.
Daryl Watts had two goals as part of a five point day. Makenna Webster had two goals and two assists. The other Badger goals went to Casey O’Brien, her NCAA leading 10th goals of the season and Sarah Wozniewicz who extended her scoring streak to four games.
The Badgers, now 6-0, 2-0 in WCHA, will travel to Minnesota-Duluth for games on Friday and Sunday.
The Wisconsin mens hockey team dropped an opening weekend series with Michigan Tech including a 5-1 loss on Sunday.
The Huskies went up 5-0 in the game before the Badgers got a goal from Dominick Mersch who deflected a shot from Corson Ceulemans.
Wisconsin, now 0-2, will host Army on Thursday and Friday at the Kohl Center.
The Wisconsin mens soccer team scored a 2-0 win over Ohio State on Friday night in Columbus as they won their fourth in a row.
Andrew Akindele and Ignasi Marques had the Badger goals. Adir Rapheal and Carter Abbott combined for five saves.
The Badgers will host Western Illinois on Tuesday.
The Wisconsin football team used a powerful ground attack to top Illinois 24-0 on Saturday afternoon in Champaign-Urbana.
Chez Mellusi had 145 yards and a touchdown, Braelon Allen had 131 yards and a score and fullback John Chenal had 38 yards and a touchdown for the Badgers.
Graham Mertz was 10-19 for 100 yards in the win as the Badgers outgained the Illini 491–93 in total offense.
The Wisconsin defense was excellent again as they came into the game 3rd in the country and lading the Big ten in total defense.
Redshirt freshman tailback Jalen Berger was dismissed from the team after the game. He reportedly was not happy after failing to play in the game. No details were given on the reasons for the dismissal.
The Badgers, now 2-3, will host Army on Saturday night at Camp Randall.
