MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) — Wednesday was moving day for a lot of cats. The Lincoln County Humane Society began moving cats about one block north, from their old animal shelter to the new one.
A Humane Society official told WAOW television the long-awaited move will be a huge improvement for both the animals and the people that take care of them. “Amazing things for the animals. As you can tell, there’s so much more space. There’s a lot more light. It’s just going to be a lot more healthier and happier for them, and a lot more organized and functional for our staff, since we won’t have such a little place with no space for anything.”
Fundraising has been going well over the last several years, which allowed for construction on the new animal shelter. They still have about $100,000 dollars to raise.
Lincoln County Humane Society officials expect to have everything moved into the new building in about 10 days.
