STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) — A person reported missing has been found dead in the Wisconsin River. Stevens Point Assistant Police Chief Tony Babl says they received a report of a missing 70-year-old woman Monday night at 6:45 p.m. The woman’s vehicle was found near the Bukolt Park boat landing.
Babl says officers searched the park area using tracking bloodhounds. The dogs indicated the woman’s scent was by the east bank of the river. Dive teams entered the river Tuesday, and found the woman’s body at 12:56 p.m.
The victim is a resident of Stevens Point. Babl says no foul play is suspected.
The woman’s name is being withheld until her family has been notified.
