WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Court records show Cindy Schulz-Juedes’ defense team has rested their case as the 67-year-old faces first-degree intentional homicide charges in the death of her husband Ken Juedes.
The defense formally rested their case at around 9 AM, with rebuttal beginning shortly thereafter. At least five witnesses were called in this morning for questioning and were released from their subpoena.
The jury was then excused at 11:30 AM and the court was adjourned for the day. The case is scheduled to go through November 12th.
Schulz-Juedes took the stand in her own defense last Friday. Court records show she was sworn in at 11 AM and was questioned through much of the afternoon.
She faces a mandatory life sentence if found guilty of shooting Ken back in 2006. Prosecutors have said she committed the crime for more than $1 million in life insurance and land, though she says that windfall was the result of true love between her and Ken. Her defense has been trying to pin the crime on a group of five men who they say shot Juedes over a deal for a racetrack.
