ECDC Looking for Refugee Co-Sponsors

WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — As Afghani refugees begin the resettlement process across Wisconsin, support groups across the state are asking for help.

The Ethiopian Community Development Council says they are looking for monetary donations and for area residents to co-sponsor refugees as they move to the area.

“Co-sponsor teams, we really believe that having this wider group of people not just the resettlement teams who are ready to welcome them,” said Emily Gilkinson, Community engagement and communication officer for ECEDC. “Support them more and accompany them more long term.”

Co-sponsor will help mentor refugees as they move to the area. Being a helping hand as the refugees adjust to their new home.
