WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAU) — A Marathon County Sheriff’s deputy seriously injured in an off duty motorcycle crash last year is not getting healthier.
51-year-old Lieutenant Kevin Gray was involved in the crash on the morning of September 20th, 2014 at Highway WW near Highway 51. A car swerved to avoid striking a stopped vehicle, and caused Gray to crash.
Sheriff Scott Parks issued a statement saying, “We have been keeping Kevin in our thoughts and prayers hoping for a full recovery, but sometimes it is not meant to be. The human body can endure even as major portions fail. Medical science can only do so much. Kevin’s condition is deteriorating due to a combination of issues and the expectation is this will continue. Without going into specifics, Kevin has Diffuse Axonal Injury, which has no treatment. The prognosis is not positive.”
Gray is being moved to a Wausau area hospice unit where he can be close to his family until he passes. Parks asks everyone to, “Keep Kevin and his family in your thoughts and prayers.”
