ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAU) — Three Wausau area teens will be earning a special lifesaving award tonight at the Rothschild Village Board meeting.
Ethan Kariger, Jakob Brogli and Hunter Devine are being honored for their work in saving the life of a bicyclist who was not breathing back on March 12th. The sophomores had gone to Gaska Park in Rothschild When they saw a 50-year-old man riding his bike. Just after he passed them, they heard a crash and saw the man had accidentally crashed into a tree. They tried to get him to answer questions, but he quickly became unresponsive.
The three teens quickly helped the man, while Karigar performed CPR. Emergency responders were able to get the man’s heart started again, and he’s since made a full recovery.
Tonight’s meeting gets started at 7pm.
