WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A former Wausau babysitter has been found guilty of killing a child she was caring for.
Marissa Tietsort pled no contest on Thursday in Marathon County court for killing the child back in 2019, then returning the baby to his parents without telling them he had died.
An autopsy showed the child had suffered three separate blunt-force injuries to the head.
Tietsort had been facing charges of child abuse and first-degree reckless homicide. As part of a plea deal, the latter was lowered to intentional homicide. The deal also avoids a jury trial in the case.
The 31-year-old mother of five was jailed on bond while also pregnant with her 6th child. She is due to be sentenced on March 8th.
