STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) Prosecutors are charging a 29-year-old Plover man with molesting a 5-year-old girl. Shane Stroik is charged with first degree sexual assault of a child.
The victim’s father asked social workers to investigate whether his daughter was the victim of a sex crime based on what the child told a relative. Social workers said the girl claimed that Stroik entered her bedroom in June and touched her inappropriately. She also claimed to have told Stroik to stop. He allegedly told her not to tell her mother.
The alleged victim was interviewed in July. Charges were filed on August 12. Stroik appeared in Portage County Court yesterday to request a preliminary hearing. That is scheduled for October 24.
Stroik was also out on bond on a series of drunk driving related charges. He was charged in Wood and Portage county for driving with a revoked license and for failing to install a court-ordered ignition lock. The new charges could lead to bond being revoked while awaiting trial.
He’s free on $2,000 cash bond while awaiting trial.
