MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A major, five-stage renovation plan is being unveiled for Marshfield Medical Center over the next few years.
The biggest change is a new skywalk.
The current skywalk allows physicians and patients of any condition to move from one end of the building to the other. For privacy reasons and safety, Marshfield Health System decided to invest in building an alternative option for the more critical patients.
“We acquired the hospital in 2017. And we knew at that point it was an aging facility that required a lot of upgrades,” Pat Board, Chief Administrative Officer, Marshfield Medical Center, said the current and future projects will “refurbish and renew [the] campus.”
The other projects include a more recent demolition of the original Marshfield Medical Center. The final projections for the space are not yet solidified, but they are most looking to replace their children’s hospital.
The ambulance bays are also under construction. The emergency department and urgent care are combining to create a more efficient and safe space for serious and minor injuries.
Marshfield’s intensive care units are also getting a makeover along with their lobby.
