MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – On Wednesday, the state reported 4,485 people tested positive for the virus, raising the seven-day average to 3,804.
Test positivity average also increased to 11.7% for the last seven days.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention listed all of Wisconsin in the “high” category for virus transmission.
DHS reported 44 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, moving the seven-day average to 27.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 932,773 confirmed cases and 9,547 deaths.
In Wisconsin, 61.3% of the eligible population has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, meanwhile 57.6% have completed the vaccine series.
Statewide hospitalizations from the virus rose on Thursday. The Wisconsin Hospital Association reported 1,659 patients, up 10 from Wednesday and 52 in a week. Patients in intensive care fell to 410, 24 fewer than Wednesday and 18 fewer than the previous week.
Northeast Wisconsin hospitals reported treating 178 patients, up six in a day and 24 in a week. Intensive care patients fell to 22, down seven in a day and 13 in a week.
In the Fox Valley, there were 149 patients, three more than Wednesday and eight more than the previous week. ICU patients were 22, down three from Wednesday and the same as a week ago.
The CDC listed all of Wisconsin in the “high” category for virus transmission.
