AUGUSTA, WI (WSAU) — The National Weather Service office in the Twin Cities has confirmed another tornado touched down as part of Wednesday’s line of storms.
Damage inspectors say an EF-0 cut a path between Augusta and Fairchild in Eau Claire County, though the extent of any damage in that area remains unclear.
The NWS Twin Cities office has also confirmed that the EF-2 that ripped through Stanley packed winds of up to 120 MPH and was on the ground for about seven minutes.
Meanwhile, NWS La Crosse surveyors now say there were two EF-2 twisters that passed to the north and west of Neillsville on Wednesday. One touched down at 9:07 PM and was on the ground for about four miles over mostly rural areas. One house was destroyed by that tornado.
The second hit at 9:16 and was on the ground for just under a mile. It did hit a farm west of Highway 73.
Both of those tornadoes packed wind speeds greater than 120 MPH.
In all, the NWS offices in the Twin Cities and La Crosse have confirmed nearly a dozen tornados along a line from Mason City, Iowa to Neillsville.
