ROTHSCHILD, Wis. — A new Wisconsin law adds additional protections for hunters, trappers, and fishers. Governor Scott Walker signed Senate Bill 338 into law during a stop at the Wisconsin Bear Hunter’s Association Conference in Rothschild Saturday. Walker says the bill, “provides our hunters with additional protections from interference.”
The new law expands the definition of an activity associated with lawful hunting, fishing, or trapping for the purposes of hunter harassment prohibition to include scouting, target shooting, dog training, and animal baiting or feedings. The bill also expands the types of conduct included under the hunter harassment prohibition to include disturbing a lawfully placed hunting stand, bait or other feed, drone use for interference, and obstructing a person engaged in a lawful hunting, fishing, or trapping activity.
