MADISON, WI (WSAU) — The top-ranked Badger women’s hockey team ousted #4 Quinnipiac 5-2 Saturday at LaBahn Arena.
Goals from five different players helped the Badgers in the win including Caitlin Schneider, Nicole LaMantia, Maddie Wheeler, and Drake Delaney.
The two teams played to a scoreless draw after one before the Bobcats took a 1-0 lead early in the second. Quinnipiac managed to tie the game back up at 2 early in the 3rd before Wisconsin used a short-handed goal from Casey O’Brien to take the lead for good.
Kennedy Blair stopped 26 of 28 shots faced in the game including nine of ten in the final period.
The same two teams will play again today in Madison to close out their series. Wisconsin will then conclude non-conference play with a game against UW-Eau Claire in a charity exhibition on Monday, January 10th. Admission for that game will be a new or gently-used book. The first 2,273 fans who show up with a book will be able to attend.
It’s the first-ever meeting between the Badgers and another UW school in women’s hockey.
