MARSHFIELD, WI (WSAU) — A new aquatic center in Marshfield should be built on the site of the city’s current swimming facility, Hefko Pool. That’s the decision of Marshfield’s Common Council who voted at their meeting Tuesday night to proceed with the project based on it being located in the Hefko Pool location.
Alderman Tom Witzel made the motion to choose the Hefko site, and said it’s time to decide. “We need to make a definitive decision that this is where the pool is going to be. Because until that definitive decision is made, fundraising, all work toward that, can’t happen. We need to get this started if we’re ever going to see this happen.”
A special ‘pool study committee’ had recommended the Hefko Pool site after issuing their report last June, but a final decision had been put on hold until information could be gathered about the future expansion plans of Marshfield Utilities, which is located adjacent to the Hefko site.
