TOWN OF SARATOGA, WI (WSAU) — One person is dead following an early morning crash in Wood County on Saturday.
23-year-old Taylor Owczynsky of Nekoosa crossed the centerline and struck a vehicle being driven by 21-year-old Tyler Manthe of Marshfield on State Highway 13 near Evergreen Avenue in the Town of Saratoga just before 4am Saturday morning.
Manthe was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield with serious injuries and would later die because of those injuries. Authorities believe he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash
Owczynsky was transported to Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids, also with serious injuries. Her condition is not known at this time.
The accident caused the highway to be completely closed for over an hour.
The crash remains under investigation but alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the accident.
