STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — A 20-year-old Stevens Point woman has been arrested after punching her pregnant mother in the stomach several times.
Authorities say they were called for a disturbance at an apartment complex on the 600 block of John’s Drive last Thursday, July 27th. An unknown issue led to a fight between Makela Lange and her 38-year-old mother.
Lange left the scene and wouldn’t respond to police when they arrived at her apartment in the same apartment complex. She was taken into custody later that day while walking around the city.
Assistant Police Chief Tom Zenner tells WAOW Newsline 9 that Lange was in possession of several bottles of alcohol at the time of her arrest, as well as drug paraphernalia. She’s expected to be charged with battery and bail jumping during an initial court appearance on August 8th.
It is unknown how far along the mother is in her pregnancy. She did not seek medical treatment.
