STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — Stevens Point has announced a preferred candidate to become the city’s next Fire Chief.
J.B. Moody, the current Assistant Cheif, has been selected to take over for Robert Finn pending a background check and final approval from the city’s Police and Fire Commission.
His career with the SPFD began in 2004. Since then he’s worked his way up the ranks to Assitant Chief in 2018.
“Assistant Chief Moody was clearly above the rest of the candidates in his vision to move the department forward and provide a vast knowledge of policy and procedure.” said the city’s Police and Fire Commission President Jerry Moore.
Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza said “I am very happy with the selection of JB Moody as the new Chief. Chief Finn has been instrumental in creating our new training facility along with many other improvements that allow Stevens Point to work towards an ISO-1 rating. JB will continue that progress and I look forward to working with him.”
An open session meeting of the PFC to vote on Moody’s appointment will be scheduled in the coming weeks.
Editors Note: A previous release from the city’s Police and Fire Commission incorrectly named Moody as the new Chief. His appointment is subject to a background check and final approval from the city’s PFC, that action may take up to ten days.
