WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau woman accused of stealing $32,000 from her Rib Mountain employer to pay bills has pled not guilty to the charges.
Shelby Lynch entered the plea Monday morning in a Marathon County courtroom where Judge Gregory Strasser also found enough evidence to move the case toward a trial. According to investigators, she was seen on camera taking cash out of the business between mid-October and mid-November, 2021.
Amounts taken varied from nearly $500 to $7,000 each day.
Lynch has reportedly admitted to taking the cash and using it to pay her bills, but she thought she had taken $20,000 instead of nearly $32,000. Investigators reportedly found over $10,000 in cash in her home.
She also faces counts of forgery in another case that’s been rolled in with the charges of theft in a business setting.
Strasser has set a pretrial conference for April 14th to schedule further action in the case.
