WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — The Marshfield man accused of shooting and injuring another man has entered a not guilty plea to a pair of felony charges.
William Crowley IV was in a Wood County Courtroom on Thursday to enter the plea to charges of Injury by Negligent Use of a Weapon or Explosive and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Charges stem from an incident on December 15th in which Crowley is accused of shooting a 31-year-old man in the abdomen after a night of drinking in a home. The victim was later found at a nearby nightclub and was treated for the injuries and later released.
Crowley was taken into custody sometime later. He told police he had been drinking but didn’t feel drunk at the time of the incident, adding that he was showing the man the handgun when he told him to fire a round into the couch.
The gun was later found in the yard of a home a few blocks away.
Crowley will return to court on March 14th for a pre-trial hearing.
