STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — If Independence Day celebrations are a contest, the city of Stevens Point is pulling out all the stops.
Mayor Mike Wiza’s office says they’ve received clearance to have two F-16 fighter jets fly over their municipal band concert at Pfiffner Pioneer Park on Wednesday evening.
Mayor Wiza worked with Airport Manager Jason Draheim and Col. Steve Kensick from the 115th Fighter Wing out of Madison Wisconsin. The planes will be making appearances over several Central Wisconsin communities on the 4th of July in conjunction with the holiday.
The City Band plays at Pfiffner Pioneer Park in the bandshell each Wednesday during the summer beginning at 7 PM. A complete schedule can be found on the city website at stevenspoint.com. This week’s theme is “Three Cheers for the Red, White and Blue”. The flyover is scheduled right before 8 PM.
Wiza says the flyover will be over quickly, so be there early and enjoy the show.
