WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — The City of Wausau has extended the hours of its yard waste site following weekend storms that brought rain and wind to the region.
In a press release city leaders said the site would be open on Monday until 8 PM then again on Tuesday from 9 AM to 8 PM.
The heavy rains and wind brought down small branches and leaves across the city, but damage was limited said Public Works Director Eric Lindman. “Just a lot of tree branches down, a lot of leaves and debris around the storm inlets. We haven’t seen a lot of trees down.”
Lindman says his crews have been out cleaning the streets and gutters of leaves and sticks as well, saying there were no reports of major road flooding because of backed-up inlets.
Because of the small damage Lindman adds that there will be no curbside pickup of any debris, so residents that want to get rid of the sticks and branches will need to take it to the yard waste site themselves during normal hours.
The city yard waste site is typically closed on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday during the summer months. Lindman says they will return to their regular schedule on June 25th.
Yard waste site schedule from Monday, June 18th through Sunday, June 24th:
Monday – 12pm – 8pm
Tuesday – 9am – 8pm
Wednesday – 9am – 8pm
Thursday – 9am – 8pm
Friday – 9am – 8pm
Saturday – 9am – 5pm
Sunday – 9am – 5pm
